Oi oi mates... Hailing from the East of Singapore, Generation 69 emerged as one of the best oi!/punk bands the local scene has produced so far. Playing with the likes of old-skool heroes like The business, The 4-Skins, The Oppressed & Peter & The Test Tube Babies, these guys have proved that they have been keeping the flag of Oi! flyin' sky-high 'till today.
We started of as a 4 piece band in mid '97, although we had gotten together as early as in mid-1996 when we were just 14. The original line up was Kojack (Vox),Wan(Guitar), Kim (Bass) and Faizal (Drums). We then decided to recruit another guitarist (Ismail). In early '98 our drummer had to leave to serve time inside borstal. We stopped for a while due to the loss of our drummer that is when Boy Amin came into the picture as our new drummer.
We released our first demo "Skinhead" in February '99 & from here began the journey, playing gigs at Area22, Youth Park, The Substation, Roomful of Blues just to name a few. Our second demo "Trouble on the Streets" was released in late 2000. After a long wait we finally managed to release our first album "Strength thru Strength" which had a label both in Malaysia (Clockwork Records) & Europe (DSS Records). More songs were sent for compilations & it was such an honour for us, having shared the same CDs with other top bands from the world.
Over the years Kojack had some personal issues and went out of the band. It became a 4-piece band again to last through the 2nd album of "Not Just Another Band" being released by Splatters Records (Malaysia) & DIM Records (Germany). As like most others, the band lapsed into a period of silence from 2005 to 2010.
But presently, the band is poised to change the future again...
Focusing more on global,society and personal issues that affects us, Generation 69 hopes to send a strong positive statement through hard music.
